The Sustainable Living Challenge is looking for student technology projects which have considered their environmental or social impacts. MDP’s which have some exploration of the sustainability of the project in the design and evaluation process are particularly relevant to receiving recognition through the Sustainable Living Challenge.
Technology projects regularly perform very well in the Challenge.
Previous awarded projects have included
- a flat pack solar cooker for disaster relief, a Nepalese wind turbine made from 44 gallon drums, a home grey water treatment system, a solar powered lawn mower, various sustainable house designs and models, sustainable garden designs and even an entire eco-village proposal.
- Projects with models will be welcome for display in our exhibition which will be shown in Sydney and Brisbane.
- The program is run in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme out of the Faculty of the Built Environment, UNSW. Recognition is provided to all projects submitted at all levels of achievement from participation to national awards and prizes. Closing date is 27th October 2006. National awards and prizes are announced at the University of New South Wales in Sydney on 4th December 2006.
